How We Help

Workstation Support That Doesn't Wait for a Bad Day

A machine that's suddenly slow, a driver that stopped cooperating, a new hire who needs a laptop ready before 9am — workstation issues are the thing our team handles most, day in and day out, across nearly every client we support. Here's how we keep them running, and how we try to get ahead of the next problem before it happens.

The problem

Workstations are where IT problems actually show up first

Servers and networks matter, but the thing a person actually touches every day is their own computer — and that's where trouble tends to surface. A driver update breaks a monitor connection, a laptop starts running hot and slow after a year of updates piling up, a printer suddenly won't be recognized. None of it's a crisis on its own, but it stops someone from getting their work done right now, which makes it feel like one.

The other half of the problem is the equipment itself. Laptops and desktops don't fail on a convenient schedule — they tend to give out right when someone's relying on them most, often because nobody was tracking age, warranty status, or declining performance until it was too late. Waiting for a machine to die is usually more disruptive, and more expensive, than replacing it on a plan.

How Emerald handles it

What workstation support looks like week to week

Fast, Remote-First Troubleshooting

Most workstation issues get fixed by our team remotely — we take over the machine, diagnose what's actually wrong, and resolve it without you needing to wait around for someone to drive out. When it's a real hardware failure, we handle that onsite or get a replacement moving.

New Computer Setup & Customization

New equipment or a new hire's first laptop gets imaged, loaded with the right software, connected to your network and printers, and set up the way that person actually works — not just handed over as a bare machine.

Planned Refresh Cycles

We track the age, performance, and warranty status of the machines across your organization so replacements happen on a schedule you control, instead of in a panic after something finally fails.

Common questions

Workstation support, answered

How fast can you fix a broken workstation, and do you try to fix it remotely first?

For most workstation problems, yes — we start by taking over the machine remotely to diagnose and fix it, which is faster than waiting for someone to drive out. If it turns out to be a hardware failure that needs hands-on work, like a bad screen or a failing hard drive, we schedule an onsite visit or arrange a replacement.

Do you help set up a new employee's computer?

Yes. When new equipment arrives, or when someone joins your team, we image the machine, install the software they need, transfer files, connect it to your network and printers, and customize it so it's ready to use on day one. This usually happens as part of a new hire's broader onboarding, which we also handle.

Do you replace workstations on a schedule, or wait until something breaks?

Both are part of the job, but we push toward the planned side. We keep track of each machine's age, performance, and warranty status so we can flag replacements before they become urgent, rather than scrambling when a laptop finally gives out in the middle of something important.
